The Railway recruitment control Board (RRCB) is a government organization, completely operated by the govt. of India under the ministry of Railways. There are 19 different posts at present for which candidates are being chosen through the direct recruitment and as well as competitive examination every year. Indian Railways is the largest Civilian employer in the world.
The career with the Indian railways is secure as well as rewarding, because this is a recession proof sector.
The Indian railways have different zones for the purpose of administration. Each zone have further divisions and departments which are managed by both technical and non-technical departments.
The technical departments consists of engineers like civil engineer, mechanical engineer, telecommunication engineers, electrical engineers and many other professionals.
The non- technical departments take care of general services like personal management, accounts, railway protection force and security.
There are different groups for different kind of posts in railways:
- Group A and Group B are considered to be Gazetted.
- Group C and D are Non-gazetted.
The posts for Group ‘A’ are carried out by the UPSC, they are appointed through Civil Service Examination (CSE), Combined Medical Service Examination (CMSE), and Engineering Service Examination.
The posts for Group ‘B’ are not open directly. The Group ‘B’ posts are given to the upgraded posts of Group ‘C’ railway employees on deputation basis.
The Group ‘C’ offers technical and non-technical posts like clerk, commercial apprentice, Master ticket collector, traffic apprentice, engineering posts (mechanical, electrical, civil, signal & telecommunication etc).
The Group ‘D’ posts include trackman, helper, assistant points man, ganman, cleaner, peon etc.
The minimum qualification required for Group ‘C’ and ‘D’ is 10th class passed / ITI / or equivalent trade.
There are several (17) Indian Railway Recruitment Zones which are further divided into different city wise divisions.
The latest jobs available in Indian railways are given below (2014):
- North Central Railway zone:
The number of vacancies are 25 for the post of Apprentice (Fitter).
The last date for applying is 11th October 2014, the candidate should be of 15 to 25 years old with minimum qualification of 10th class.
- Railway Employee Cooperative Bank Limited Zone:
The number of vacancies are 25 for the post of Clerk.
The last date for applying is 27th September 2014, the candidate should be of 18 to 28 years old.
The candidate should qualify the CWE and must have basic computer language.
- Indian Railway Zone:
There is only one vacancy for this post of Editor.
The eligibility is that the candidate should be a having master’s degree in Hindi and 10 years’ experience in Journalism or as Editor in Hindi in any Central Govt.’s publication department or any news agency or newspaper.
The last date for applying is 11th November 2014.
- South Central Railway:
There are 2 vacancies for the post of Scouts and Guides (Quota – Group D).
The candidate should be of 18 to 33 years old, with minimum qualification of 10th class with ITI qualification.
The candidate should have been an active member of Scout Organization for minimum 3 years and should have attended a National level event and should have Himalayan Wood Badge or an advanced trained Guide /captain/leader etc.
The last date for applying is 13th October 2014.
- MMRDA Mumbai zone:
There are 24 vacancies for various posts like chief Financial Officer, Company Secretary, Deputy Chief Finance Officer, (finance), Assistant General Manager (HR), Assistant General Manager (PR), Assistant General Manager (Environment), Assistant General Manager / Executive Engineer (civil), Deputy Engineer (civil), Deputy Engineer (Electrical), Deputy Engineer (Environment) / Assistant manager (Environment), Assistant manager (finance), Office Assistant (HR), Community Development Assistant, Junior Assistant cum Computer Operator.
